Giant Steps

Giant Steps is a very original band that I found about a week and a half ago. They have a certain push to their music that gives it a crazy vibe. You can't sit still while listening to their song Tolerate, it is scientifically proven. So if you will do me a favor and listen to that song RIGHT NOW and if you were able to sit still than comment and let me know. Tolerate is the only recorded work of their I have found but I will be honest I just looked on Spotify and YouTube so there is probably some more out there. I'm going to look for it when I am done with this post. There are some live recorded songs you can watch on YouTube and they do NOT disappoint. Secret Sessions did a video with them during their Queen Week. Giant Steps performed an acoustic cover of Queen's '39. It is amazing. His voice somewhat has a Neil Young sound to it and the guitar is really good. Secret Sessions also has a video of Giant Steps original song, Cut Me To Pieces. This song, like tolerate has a soulsy push to it and I dig it. It is only an acoustic version but I feel like that adds to the song. Well I have talked about the only songs of theirs I have been listening to and if my lack of work turns you off from this band you are stupid because if I put a band on here and I have only listened to 3 of their songs that should be telling enough of how damn good those 3 songs are. So take a listen to them on Spotify or on YouTube here and here

Ambassadors

Hey guys I'm glad to have this back up and going and I look forward to giving you guys some new music suggestions and hopefully talking to some of you about music! It is my favorite thing to do! Well what a better way to bring this blog back than to tell you guys about a band that both me and cole have been crazy about since Lollapalooza 2012 in Chicago. I became a fan of theirs immediately after listening to them for my Lolla homework. I was instantly hooked on their harmonies and lyrics. Holy shit are they deep and inspiring! All fans of Local Natives will be thanking me for doing a post on this band because they will all be new fans of Amabassadors. Both bands are known for moving lyrics and haunting melodies and harmonies. Ambassadors is AWESOME! live we saw them up close and believe me, out of the hugely impressive line up for Lolla 2012 they were in my top 10 performances. We got to see Black Keys and the Shins in the front 5 rows to give you guys perspective of to what I am comparing seeing this band to. We learned a crazy thing about this band too their. The keyboardist rocks harder all show than anybody else in the band and he is blind. How cool is that! Seeing him head bang the entire 45 minutes of their set was an inspiration and seeing him walk out with his cane was only the beginning of the surprise the decent-sized crowd that gathered to see them received from this band. They are great and you will be listening to them for a long time! Songs I Recommend: Litost Weight/Lightness Bodybag Unconsolable Falls spotify:artist:20iowVlksqq7KkcOv2ftT5 Instead of Grooveshark we are using Spotify now. It is awesome and that is the reason why. So if you don't have it yet you need to download it now as it will change the way you listen to music and it is entirely FREE! Here is a link to download it once again, entirely for FREE and you can connect with both me and Cole Tonti! I really look forward to talking with you guys some more from now on! We both look forward to hearing back from you guys!

Music Doctors

Music Doctors is a blog on blogger. It began back in 2009 when 2 friends decided to find a way to store the new music they found. After the idea became to create a blog for themselves where they would briefly discuss the bands they find and a link to their music. After showing it to their friends and hearing the positive feedback they never looked back. The first year was slow but there were definitely small goals that were achieved. They gained more views than they ever thought would occur. They gained a few frequent viewers who would check in daily. A Facebook and Twitter page were created for the blog to help integrate social media into the marketing of the blog. Few likes and follows were achieved, but the followers gained were nothing small. Independent record companies and artists became fans of the blog and posted links to it on their social media accounts. These posts gained the Music Doctors their most views. Years went on and the two friends kept it up despite the low amount of views because views were not what the two wanted. Now after taking near 2 years off the two friends have decided to come back together to bring the Music Doctors blog back into gear. These guys have a ton of potential to make a name for themselves. Of the bands they posted about a surprisingly high amount went on to become well known artists of the modern day music industry. These two kids are on their way to creating something bigger than even they realize they are doing and we should all be excited to watch their journey. Buffalo Rodeo

Ok so here at the Music Doctors we strive to find some of the best unheard of talents around today, well we needed help to find this band from a band you may have heard of, Cage The Elephant. Today Cage did what they did best and gave the world some new music, but it wasn't of their own. Earlier today they posted a video to Buffalo Rodeo's song, "All The Same" so I took a listen, and was hooked.

First off, the music sounds nothing like Cage The Elephants, in fact it has more of a U2 combined with Arcade Fire vibe. The voice isn't anything like Bono's though, which is a good thing because the uniqueness adds to the band's sound. Their LP, Wanderers, is full of 5 great songs, some more mellow than the other's.

Now if you are already interested just wait, we haven't even gotten to the best part. Get this, the LP was released July 2011. The group of 5 graduated from HIGH SCHOOL in July 2011. So, yes, this group of 5 guys graduated from High school, went to their bassist's house and recorded Wanderers in just 5 days. Talk about potential!

Like many band's first recordings, Wanderers, has that raw sound to it that really helps add to the emotion of their songs. Their song, "All The Same," is spectacularly well written and so is their song, "So Shallow." And the other 3 songs are almost as great.

So obviously you can tell how excited we are about this band and if you don't believe us than take a listen and they will prove it to you. Oh yeah and here is the BEST part right now you can download Wanderers for FREE via the band's bandcamp. So definitely check them out now!

Songs I Recommend:
All The Same - listen and you will immediately believe
So Shallow - A great song with such a cool refrain
Grow Up - more of a raw sound but it is really good
Seasons - a bit more mellow but still great.

Paper Lions

Paper Lions is a band that any alternative rock band can and will fall in love with. They released their first album back in '07 and it didn't receive anywhere near the attention it deserved, especially when it contained a song such as Travelling. The song has a a fun melody set up by the piano and the song has a hint of The Beatles in it along with Dr. Dog. The self-titled album Paper Lions, also contains other great songs such as I'm On Fire and Bones. The album also contains the song, The Sheriff. This song contains some of the best harmonies in a song and if you have read any of the other posts we have put on this blog you know that we love good harmonies.

After this album the band took some time to release anything new. They started putting out more stuff in 2010 and their song, Lost the War, proved that they weren't done creating songs that all alternative rock fans will dig. It's been a long time since we have discovered a band with such great potential. The refrain of Lost the War will remind you of Arcade Fire, however, it is also completely different. Regardless of how bad of a description that was, they are completely deserving of a shot.

And if this post wasn't good enough the band has a link to their newest EP, Trophies Deluxe version with their song Travelling as well. So basically you are getting their newer stuff with the best song off their first album for FREE! Seriously what else does anyone need to give them a reason to check out a band that they will love.

Songs I Recommend:
Travelling
Lost the War
Hands
The Sheriff
I'm on Fire
Bones

My Best Fiend

Ok so I know it has been too long and there is no explanation for our hiatus so I'm just gonna say that we are sorry for the wait, but I promise that there will be more updates from now on. So here we go.

My Best Fiend

Ok so this band started releasing stuff around 2007 but their newest album shows all of their talent. In Ghostlike Fading is one of the most emotion filled albums I have heard in a long time. It is a perfect album to listen to when you just want to sit there and relax and think about life, what you have done, where you wanna go, and other things of that nature. Just put this album on repeat and listen through it completely. I guarantee that you will have an epiphany or two.

Now emotion is not the only thing My Best Fiend has to offer on this album, in fact I think it comes in second to the level of talent that these guys have with music. They have somehow found a way to properly blend classic rock sounds like Pink Floyd and combined them with the indie sound of today. Add in the voice that I hear some Gregg Alexander in and My Best Fiend has created something truly special.

I really recommend listening to this band and finding out if they are for you or not because chances are you will be listening to them for the rest of the weekend. I know I will be.

Songs I Recommend:
One Velvet Day - by far their best song and will get you hooked. Listen to this 1st.
Cracked Eggs - listen to this next and it will prove to you that My Best Fiend is for real. Oh and this song is available for FREE Download on iTunes. Take advantage of that!
On the Shores of the Infinite - a slower song but man the emotion is deep in this song. It is fitting that it is the last song on the album because it is the perfect ending song. It will leave you thinking.
