TriHouse is a band from Montreal and they are very good. They have many songs on youtube. They have some covers and some originals. They have two great covers of two great songs, one of which is my favorite cover yet. This is Tiny Dancer originally performed by Sir Elton John.
As you can see by a live cover of this song they have a very good talent. Both are very good guitar players and both have great voices. My favorite part of their cover is from 3:10 - 3:20 he adds an original touch to the song by going falsetto. They have another great cover of a great Foo Fighters song, My Hero.
Not only do they have covers but they also have some great originals. For example their song, I'd Stay.
So by now you can get a good grip on how their music sounds and you can believe me that they are great.
Songs I recommend:
I'd Stay
Tiny Dancer (cover)
My Hero (cover)

The Silent Years
A true indie band. For all you people who love to listen songs nobody knows this band is completely for you. Not only are they way underground but they are very good. They have very nice, melodic, and clean guitar riffs mixed with noisy, but great vocals. The lyrics are great and actually mean something. Their songs are good to sit and chill to on a sunny day, hell or on a winter day when it is snowing outside.
They are very creative as they did all the artwork for their website and made their debut music video by hand.
They are great and if you enjoyed that song you will love the rest.
Songs I recommend:
Someone to Keep us Warm
Black Hole
The Sun is Alive
On Our Way Home
Check out these songs and then buy their album The Globe

Atomic Tom
This band has one of the craziest stories. According to their profile on last.fm
The Moment [Debut Album] was recorded over four months in a tiny apartment with the band’s close friend, Ben Romans as producer. Microphones were set up in the hallway, the bathtub and the kitchen; amps and empty guitar cases lined the walls, and the vocal booth was a repurposed utility closet. Despite noise complaints, one of them leading to a shutdown by “New York’s finest”, the LP left the studio dressed in larger-than-life sounds.
So as you can see they went a long way to release their debut album, and it was way worth it. With sounds similar to Stars of Track and Field, and A Silent Film you will be hooked onto this band after listening to a few tracks.
Another great story from this band in that there is a video of them on youtube playing their hit song "Take Me Out" on iPhones just using apps on a subway!
Songs I recommend:
Take Me Out
The Moment
We Were Never Meant To Be
Maybe I'm Wrong
Play That Dirty Girl

Kunek/Other Lives
Ok so Kunek was a band that was a perfect blend of indi rock, folk, and post-rock. They were great. Kunek only had 1 album but it was fantastic. Here is a quote from the band hopefully it will shed a little more light on what they wanted to achieve.
“Kunek is a band that consists of six multi-instrumentalists. We strive to create a unique and provocative sound through the experimentation of composition and tone. We all are in it for the music and if others enjoy our songs it just adds to our inspiration.”
Songs I recommend:
A Sign of Life
Coma
Bright Eyes
We Have Become
Good Day.
In 2008 Kunek changed their name to Other Lives. Other Lives is very similar in music and is very very good. There are only 5 band members instead of 6 and all 5 were in Kunek. Both bands are very underrated and deserve a listen.
Songs I recommend:
Black Tables
Paper Cities
It Was The Night

Young the Giant
Ok so I recently discovered this band was going to get huge. I always knew they were great but for some reason I didn't expect them to get mainstream this quickly. I was think more this summer. What I didn't take into effect was that itunes was going to make their single My Body their single of the week. Luckily for this band itunes will get this band closer to the amount of popularity and fans that they deserve. So itunes, on behalf of this band, myself, and to all the people who will become fans because of the single of the week...Thank You!
Now onto this band, holy cow are they good, and amazing live. So this band has exactly what it takes to make it in this day of music. They have catchy hooks with great melodies, good percussion that gets the listener really feeling the music, a small sense of electronic, and great vocals.
Their songs lean more toward alternative rock but they have a bit of that surfer rock in them that surfer blood has. Which off track, I am really liking this new surfer rock that is starting to come around, it's super chill and fun at the same time. It's awesome.
Anyways after a few listens to this band you will be hooked along with the rest of America.
Songs I recommend:
My Body

Cough Syrup

Cage the Elephant - Thank You Happy Birthday
Ok so you hear the name Cage the Elephant. First thing that pops into your head? Ain't No Rest for the Wicked. As it should it's a great song that got played every day. It deserved it too.
This band is known by all but isn't top of the list for most. It is a band that you don't normally think to play right away, but when you listen to them you love every bit of it. It's like the TV show Malcolm in the Middle, never think to yourself, "Man, I could really go for some Malcolm right now..." but when you are randomly watching it you think, "Why don't I watch this all the time???" That is Cage the Elephant right there but music.
Now how can a band that had a great debut cd respond, well with a new cd that is different but every bit as good. At first glance you won't think anything crazy of it, but once you listen to it again you will get the Cage the Elephant feeling and realize that it's actually great.
With songs like, Shake me Down and 2024, it has those initial songs that will catch your ears and you will immediately like it. However, there are a great amount of underdog surprise songs that will grow on you. These songs are Aberdeen and Always Something.
The cd is a a great blend of Alternative Rock and Psychedelic Rock. It's very original and very good and highly recommended by the doctor.
Songs I recommend:
Shake me Down
2024
Aberdeen
Always Something

Tim Myers
This is a post for all you pop lovers that read our blog. Tim Myers is the epitome of up-coming pop artists that will be great, I am not sure if that sentence is grammatically correct, but I just really wanted to use the word epitome.
Anyway back to Tim, his songs are very catchy and fun, I am sure you will love them. He has a song that sounds like it could be on an Apple commercial, ironically Google Chrome used it for their commercial, Apple... you need to step up your game.
Tim Myers also has a song used in a Target ad. It is safe to say that this guy is using his resources tremendously and is getting his music heard.
I guarantee that almost all of you will recognize a song of his, but have no idea it was him, which is why I am creating this post.
Songs I recommend:
A Beautiful World (Target Add)
The Lucky Ones (Google Chrome)
Momma's Boy
Brand New Day (Another one you will immediately recognize!)
Technicolor

Chronic Future
Do you like the Flobots? How about if we mixed the Flobots with hard rock... not metal but hard rock. Well if a mad scientist were to perform such a task the most proper name for his creation would be Chronic Future.
Their verses are very similar to Flobots but then the refrain hits and the music speeds up and gets harder and it's just crazy and amazing at the same time. GREAT! ORIGINAL!
An even crazier thing about this band and they started at age 13!!! Think about what you were doing at that age, your first year as a teenager, and then think about your maturity. And then think about what these guys did. It's insane and a true sign of a musical guru! These guys are great and their songs are very addictive.
I can't mention enough times how great and original these guys are so all that's left is to tell you some songs to get a beginning listen to get you hooked onto this band.
Songs I recommend
Time and Time again
Lines in My Face
Stop Pretending
Shellshocked
Memories in F Minor

New Politics
Ok so a band I have known and loved since the summer is starting to make a name for themselves, and in the next year they will be huge.Their sound is great and completely original. If I had to categorize it I would say it is a mixture between rock/punk/well this is the original part. They lyrical flow is similar to hip hop. They are similar to the Beastie Boys but more Rock 'n' Roll.
They are lighting up the music scene and will be huge. Catch them before they get over played. They already have a song on a commercial or two and you will recognize it immediately. I guess if a The Hives and Beastie Boys had a love child the most fitting name would be New Politics. Plus their name says a lot. It's clever and a catchy name.
This band is doing EVERYTHING right and I recommend getting on their bandwagon now before it's too late and you look foolish. With just ONE album they are making this much noise. Of all the bands we have put on here New Politics has some of the best potential.
Songs I recommend:
Yeah Yeah Yeah (their most recognizable)
Dignity (personal favorite)
Love is a Drug
Give Me Hope

The Expendables and Pacific Dub
We are brining you a band that is perfect for those surfer style music lovers. The perfect blend of Reggae and Rock. Similar to Sublime, Dirty Heads, SOJA, and well any other bands like them. They are a huge part of the Santa Cruz Music Scene right now and are very big there. If this is a genre of music that fits you than quickly check this band out. This band is known in Santa Cruz as being one of the best live performers out there today. So if you are given the chance to see these guys DO IT!!!!
Songs I recommend:
Come Get High
Sacrifice
Down, Down, Down
Bowl For Two
Let Loose
Pacific Dub
This band is very similar to the band above but WAY more Unknown! They are gaining recognition quickly though, as they have already played with bands such as the Dirty Heads they are making a name for themselves. A big part of the reason they are making a name for themselves is not just because they are great, but because this genre of music is growing rapidly and gaining popularity. They have only been performing live for about a year and in that time they have come out with two albums on itunes, each I recommend buying.
Songs I reccomend:
California Girl
Inhale
Native
Sundown
Foolin Around
Pacific Dub
