The Moonbabies

Ok so this band has been around for a while now, 14 years to be exact. They have never been able to get the credit and fame that they deserve and that is a pity. They are an incredible Swedish duo that create some great indie tunes and I am really digging their latest album from 2007, Moonbabies at the Ballroom.

They have had some recent recognition with songs on TV shows such as Greys Anatomy and Eli Stone. Their songs are mellow and melodic, two very different adjectives thatsound very similar. The combination of male and female harmonies adds a certain mysterious, yet peaceful vibe to their songs. Their music is very comforting and relaxing.

This band discovered how to correctly fuse bits and pieces of pop, indie, and alt. rock together and make it sound wonderful. I hope.... HOPE they finally get the recognition they rightfully deserve!

Songs I Recommend:
War on Sound
Take Me To The Ballroom
Shout it Out
---------those 3 songs will give you and idea of their sound--------
However my personal favorite in Walking On My Feet.

The Devil Whale

Ok so this is an up an coming alternative rock band that is on tour. They have already performed with well known bands such as the Cold War Kids and Blue Merle, The Autumn Defense, and many more!

They are a new band and given time have an incredibly high amount of possibility to achieve success! Their debut EP, Young Wives, is full of a number of great songs. If you are a fan of alternative rock with a mild speed tempo, meaningful lyrics, soft and soothing vocals and guitar melodies. Some songs are faster than others and have that catchy sound that will make you tap your feet and bob your head without even knowing it.

This is that perfect band for the times where you need music to calm you down. It isn't sad bu the lyrics are honest and deep. I highly recommend this band. Perfect definition of Mellow Music.

Songs I Recommend:
Barracudas - this is one of their faster songs that will catch your ear
Television Zoo - My personal favorite
Underwater - another catchy song
Patent Boots
The End (Isn't Coming) - a good song but the vocals are distorted, may throw some off.

Saint Motel

So recently the band The Strokes have been gaining a ton of attention with their new album, particularly their song "Under Cover of Darkness." Well if you are a strokes fan Saint Motel is for You!

Saint Motel is one of the many bands we have put on this blog but one of the few we guarantee will make it somewhere in the tough music industry. They are really underground right now, but won't be for long. Trust me, take 1 listen to their album ForPlay and you will see why I am so excited about this band. Their music and videos are so much fun!

I literally cannot say enough about how well this band will do. I have one of my few but always correct gut feelings on this band and I cannot wait until they prove me right!

This is one of those bands you will be able to brag about knowing before they were big and everyone will look at you as a musical master!

Listen to this band driving and you might get a speeding ticket because their music will entrap you and put you in such a good mood you won't notice you are speeding.

Well I wish I could say more about this band but I think by seeing that they have left me speechless is quite enough!

Songs I Recommend: Literally ALL of them

Dear Dictator: Such a strong song with a great bass line, will get your blood pumping!
Butch: An incredibley fun song that should be your summer anthem! So much fun!
Eat Your Heart Out: Another very fun song!
Pity Party: A song that will instantly make you happy!
To My Enemies: Great
Do Everything Now: Another fun and great song.

Once again few bands leave me speechless, this is one of them. Just AWESOME!

The New Limb

Ok so this band is a true indie band with that mainstream sound. If they do not gain nationwide radio play in the next 2 years I will be more than shocked. We all know that indie music and being the first to discover a band is the new "cool" thing to do. Well share this band with your friends because everyone will like them.

They are a fun band that interacts with their fans. They are known by OC as one of the best live bands, maybe that is because they have been known to bake cookies and bring them to their shows and give them to their fans!!! Everybody likes cookies. Everybody will like The New Limb. Everybody has a win-win situation here!

They have released 2 EP's since 2008 and from those EP's many amazing songs have been created. Picture that song on a commercial that always gets stuck in your head because you love it and it is catchy. Picture the song that you catch the last 30 seconds of and you wait for them to say the name of it and it is never said and you spend countless hours googling the one line you remember and never finding it, only to hear it a day or two later and hearing the name of the song and googling the lyrics and finding that the lyric you thought you heard was just 1 or 2 words off. This band has those kind of songs!!!

With the perfect blend of male and female vocal harmonies and up-tempo melodies this band will all but certainly catch your ear.

Songs I Recommend:
Birds And Stuff ( A fun instant hit)
Autumn Leaves (A bit slower, but a great, moving song)
Fire Song (Quite Possibly My Favorite)
Cycle Mother Earth
We Forgive You, Gene

Neon Trees

Neon Trees is a great, new, up and coming band known by their most popular song Animal. I have been listening to this band non-stop for a little over a month now and I am yet to and doubt I will ever get tired of them. Neon Trees show similarities to Athlete, Barcelona, and Carolina Liar. Like the 3 similar bands Neon Trees are easy to listen to with a music style that you love to listen to in great moods, but also will when you are down or upset. They have already gained quite a bit of popularity, but I suggest listening and jumping on the band wagon now before they get huge. It is a decision you will not regret, trust us we are doctors.

Recommended Songs:
Honestly all of them..but the catchier ones that will draw you in are
Sins of My Youth
1983
Your Surrender
Animal
In the Next Room

Luke Reynolds

You might recognize this guys name from two posts back, Blue Merle, and Pictures and Sound. That is because we are huge fans of his and after posting our link to our write up on Pictures and Sound he informed me of his new solo album. So I immediately checked it out and found out that it was just as good as his previous stuff. Luke Reynolds is a musical genius and for all of our fans that love mellow, indie, alternative music this guy will immediately become one of your favorite musicians ever. (I just found out about his new album literally 5 minutes ago and I feel like I should have known about it earlier!)

His new album, Maps, has hints of music from his last two bands, Pictures and Sound and Blue Merle. For those that like his faster stuff you will love his song,Better Off. Maps also has some songs with vibes that were not in his last two bands, and they are great!

Songs I Recommend: (All of Them)
Floating in Space - This will remind you of Pictures and Sound a lot!
Flood - a bit different from his last two but an amazing song!
Better Off - This song reminds me of Every War from Pictures and Sound
Church on Sunday - This song has a kick to it and its great. Very Soulful, incorporates "The One" feeling James Brown introduced to the world.
Circles + Lines - reminds me 100 Directions from Pictures and Sound
One Step At a Time - Another great song
What You Want - has a Gary Go feeling. It's just him and a Piano and it really shows off his voice, which has been compared to Chris Martin of Coldplay.

So by now, if You haven't noticed this guy is great, so check out his stuff.

The Gallery

The Gallery has found a sound that appeals to all, it is a brilliant mixture of Rock 'n' Roll with that "mainstream" sound. The band is very underground, but man they are breaking out and breaking out fast!

They have sounds similar to The Wallflowers, I would say it is a southern-rock/pop. Very good and relaxing music to listen to on a sunny spring day while sitting on your porch with a drink in your hand and that slight scent of rain in the air. Just overall their music provides a good feeling.

They are on their way into the mainstream world and will soon be known by all. Already touring with bands Rooney, The Maine, and We The Kings. Even though their music style is different from all of them they have still been able to tour with them, which shows that their music appeals to different crowds.

They are one of Rolling Stones "Choose The Cover" contestants and definitely deserve it, they are a no doubt front runner for winning the contest. This is just more proof that they are on their way to the bigs and moving quickly.

Songs I Recommend:
(Most on on their EP Come Alive)
Catalyst (Will be a hit)
Ballroom of Broken Hearts (A bit slower but a really good song)
Free (My Personal favorite)
Life is Strange
Last Goodbye
