Surfer Music

Ok so if you have been following us for the past month or so you will have noticed that well, we have discovered the new genre that will soon take over America. I am labeling this genre, Surfer Music. It is basically a type of Alternative Rock but it has a very distinctive style. It is raw and the guitar riffs are very melodic. The songs are fun and perfect to listen to on the Beach. This genre has been developing for a while but more and more bands are starting to take part in the move in by this summer I am predicting that Surfer Music will be huge.

Bands that we have already posted on this blog are Surfer Blood and Young the Giant If you haven't checked out those posts yet do that NOW!!!

Now I am going to list a few more bands following this trend and some songs to listen to of theirs.

Japanese Motors - This band is a bit different from the others because of the vocals. The lead singers vocals are a bit lower but that just adds to the music and when he gets his voice a bit higher, for choruses, it sounds great because it has a raspy sound to it.

Songs To Listen To: Single Fins and Safety Pins, Better Trends, Spendin' Days, Brand New Everything.

The Drums - This band differentiates itself in the new Surfer Music genre by adding almost an 80's electronic sound to it. You can here a little cure in them. They still are part of this surfer music trend so if you like these past bands definitely check them out.

Song To Listen To: Let's Go Surfing, Best Friend. Down By The Water, Me And The Moon

Bombay Bicycle Club - This band is a little less raw but still deserve to be put into the Surfer Music category. Of all the bands in this category they are the closest to alternative (or what some people call indie rock).

Songs To Listen To: Ghost, Magnet, Evening/Morning (Great Music Video), Always Like This

Bojibian - One of the bands following the Surfer Music trend that is way less known.

Songs to listen to - You and Me, I Don't Believe in Love, Still There

Eulogies - Another unknown band following this Surfer Music genre.

Songs to listen to: Eyes on the Prize, One Man, Bad Connection, Running in the Rain

Voxhaul Broadcast - Surfer Music, unknown, but one of my favorites.

Songs to Listen to: Why Not, Rotten Apples, When The Wives Come Home, Too Much Thinking
